ON THE OTHER SIDE OF CHANGE

The Alexandria Choral Society closes out its 53rd season with an exciting program entitled ‘On the Other Side of Change’ with both a Saturday evening performance at Westminster Presbyterian Church and a free community matinee on Sunday, May 7th at the Patrick Henry Recreation Center in Alexandria. (see below for details)
‘On the Other Side of Change’ features a diverse set of women composers from all over the world. Among them: Latvian composer Laura Jekabsone (Ilus Hääl), Canadian composer Eleanor Daley (Gloria in Excelsis Deo), German composer Fanny Hensel (Schöne Fremde), and American composers Faith Zimmer (Laus Trinitati), Undine Smith Moore (We Shall Walk Through the Valley), and Rosephanye Powell (To Sit and Dream).
We are proud to share the stage with the winner of our 2022 Sing-Off Grant Program, the chamber choir from Langley High School (Virginia) under the direction of Caroline Player. Together, we will premiere a new work entitled 'You Birth the Seeds' by esteemed Australian-American composer Melissa Dunphy and Alexandria’s Poet Laureate, Zeina Azzam.
We hope you’ll join us for this final set of performances in our 2022-23 season!

Our season is supported in part by the City of Alexandria, PARKnerships, the Virginia Commission for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, and The Ross Roberts Fund for the Arts at the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia.

Online ticket sales are now closed. Tickets will be available at the door this evening.
As a non-profit performing arts organization, ACS strongly believes that financial capacity should never be a barrier to experiencing quality choral programming. That’s why we have proudly adopted a PAY-WHAT-YOU-CAN pricing model for this concert.
Our suggested price for each seat is $30 (all seats are General Admission), but we invite you to pay the amount that is affordable for you - whether that be more or less. When our patrons pay whatever they can, it allows us to bring our music to more people, while remaining financially healthy.
